Over $13K in Giving Tuesday Donations!

We couldn't be prouder!

Between the generosity of our customers, our matching, and our own personal and store donations, Outer Banks Boil Company raised over $13,000 on Giving Tuesday for two great organizations that are near and dear to us.

Proceeds are to be evenly split between these two fabulous organizations:

First the "Near":

The mission of the Outer Banks Relief Foundation is to assist people who live or work in our

community who are burdened with financial difficulties due to a debilitating illness or other personal tragedy. Financial assistance is given in the form of mortgage or rent payments, utility bill payments, and payment of other critical household bills in amounts generally ranging from $500 to $2,000. When tragedy strikes it's often your community who rallies around you and pulls you through. To be able to support this organization in any way is an honor for us. We know the Outer Banks is an incredibly special place - it's where we got off the ground! Being able to give back and support the community that supported us holds a special place in our hearts. In addition to donating, you can also help the Outer Banks Relief Foundation by volunteering. For more information go to https://www.outerbanksrelieffoundation.com/donate/.

. . . and now the "Dear":

Over 44 million Americans suffer from some form of mental illness with 1 in 5 American adults having a diagnosable mental health condition in any given year. 2020 has been an incredibly difficult and trying time for so many people, even more so for those who struggle with mental illness. Mental Health America (MHA) is the nation’s leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and promoting the overall mental health of all. Outer Banks Boil Company recognizes how importantmental health is to overall well-being and MHA's fight to end the stigma surrounding mental health really hits home for us. Since their founding in 1909 by Clifford W. Beers, their programs and initiatives have promoted mental health and prevented mental illness through advocacy, education, research, and services. We are particularly inspired by their Before Stage Four (B4Stage4) philosophy: When we think about diseases like cancer or heart disease, we don’t wait years to treat them. We start before Stage 4—we begin with prevention, identify symptoms, and develop a plan of action to stop and hopefully reverse the progression of the disease. Mental health should be no different. It is critical to address symptoms early and plan an appropriate course of action on a path towards overall health. With all of the trials this year has brought keeping care of yourself and your mental health is more important than ever and we are so glad to be supporting Mental Health America and we are excited about continuing to do so in the future. Along with Outer Banks Relief Foundation, in addition to donating there are manyways to get involved with Mental Health America. Thanks so much to our generous and giving Outer Banks Boil Company friends, customers, and supporters. We couldn't have done it without you!
